April 29, May 6 and 13 – Jesus: First Century Rabbi
Jesus lived and died as a Torah-observant Jew who lived and worked among many other great teachers in his era. Research has proven that he was devoted to his Jewish practices, and was part of the emerging movement of early rabbis that would eventually become what we call “rabbinic Judaism.” We will gain insight into the first century world of Judaism and the thoroughly Jewish
roots of Jesus’ teachings.
This class will be lead by Rabbi Debra Smith (Reb Deb)
A major focus of Reb Deb’s work is Deep Ecumenism and multi-faith dialogue. She is an Interfaith Activist and currently serves as co-chair of the NJ Muslim-Jewish Solidarity Committee and is a co-chair of the Morris County NJ Chapter of the Sisterhood of Salaam-Shalom. She is a member of the New Jersey Interfaith Coalition and is a frequent speaker and teacher at local churches and mosques.
